What is Age-related Macular Degeneration?
The major cause of visual impairment in older adults. It's a condition in which the retina will be damaged and causes vision loss in the macula (center of the visual field).
Am I at risk of developing AMD?
There are number of specific tests such as visual acuity check, ophthalmoscopy, fundus photography, fluorescein angiogram and an Amsler grid to help diagnose AMD.
In each examination, we closely look for any abnormalities such as edema, fluid buildup, detachment and pigmented areas specificic to the macula. Upon that we recommend an action if necessary.
